Black Women’s Arts Festival Newsletter June 7, 2011

Greetings, Friends!

We are gearing up for Philadelphia’s 8th Annual Black Women’s Arts Festival, which will be special as always! We will be sending you regular updates from now until Festival dates Thursday July 28th through Sunday July 31st, 2011.

In this message, I thought it would be good to forward along an automated message we added to our email address. We get lots of email and lots of it can be addressed thusly:

Thank you for contacting the Black Women's Arts Festival. If it is relevant, and we can help you, according to the list below, we will return your email at our earliest opportunity.

Please note the following:

1) If you'd like to advertise in the BWAF Pages: A Community Resource Directory published by the Black Women's Arts Festival, please visit www.BWAFpages.com or email BWAFpages(at)gmail.com.

2) If you'd like to volunteer, please email BWAFphilly(at)yahoo.com with your first and last name, home phone number, cell phone number, volunteer preferences, and hours/days of availability.

3) If you'd like to produce a Black Women's Arts Festival in your town, please email BWAFphilly(at)yahoo.com with: "Licensed BWAF Producer" in the subject. No phone calls or text messages, please.

4) If you'd like to know whether you have been selected to feature at BWAF Philly, we will be making notifications in July, as stated on our submissions page. No phone calls or text messages, please. We thank you for your patience.

5) If you've emailed us an announcement about your event or business, please remove BWAFphilly(at)yahoo.com from your general list and replace it with these two addresses: BWAFphilly(at)yahoogroups.com and BWAFpages(at)gmail.com.

6) If you are requesting advice on how to show or sell your artwork, publish your writing, or otherwise grow your career as an artist, please note that we are not staffed or able to advise you. We suggest you find individual artists who have what you want in the way of professional accomplishment, and approach them directly with "I'd love your advice - let me take you to lunch and pick your brain" or some similar statement. Approach with a willingness to compensate your potential mentor for their time and consideration. Best wishes!

7) Please network with us on MySpace, Facebook Groups, Facebook Fan Pages, and Twitter. Note that all BWAF correspondence, however, goes through BWAFphilly(at)yahoo.com ONLY. Wall posts or messages left on our MySpace, Facebook, or Twitter pages are not valid as they are not searchable by keyword nor archived, as email is. We appreciate your understanding about this.

Please be patient and allow us to return your email as soon as we can, and feel free to send occasional reminders via email if you're not hearing from us as soon as you'd like to.

We appreciate you and hope to see you at the next Black Women's Arts Festival!
